Editorial Review for Kokkari Estiatorio – by Daniel Liszt
The Scene
Sunlight pours through open picture windows while tan walls and high ceilings keep the space feeling breezy on any occasion. The front room sports a full-service bar; the back room's exhibition kitchen is flanked by a 20-foot chef's table and cauldron heating Greek coffees. Many of the tie-and-slacks-clad servers speak with authentic accents and are friendly without being intrusive.
The Food
Contemporary Hellenic dishes comprise the straightforward menu. True to tradition, lamb is a specialty--like finger-ready riblets drizzled with lemon, oregano and olive oil. Puffy zucchini pucks are lightly breaded and served with a mint-yogurt sauce. Some of the entrees are borderline enormous, including a charcoal-grilled rib eye and radiant wild King salmon. Desserts are worth the indulgence. Fans of cosmo cocktails might like the rhubarb-strawbrry soup; ice-cream lovers will go gaga for a signature sundae topped with dark chocolate, fudge and marshmallow-like sweet cream.

We usually LOVE everything about this restaurant, they do a fantastic job with the food and the atmosphere is amazing. We went a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday and really felt rushed. Our appetizers came out within 5 minutes of ordering and our entrees came the second we put our forks down from the appetizers. We literally could have been in and out of the restaurant with drinks and dessert in 40 minutes. This is the first time we have felt this rushed and I hope it is the last.
Pros: Great food and Ambience
Cons: Service was rushed

I'm a big critic when it comes to Greek food...I'm Greek! It's hard to find exceptional Greek food...unless you go to Kokkari! We have tried almost everything on the menu and every single thing has been DELICIOUS! Try the kolokithokeftethes, octapodi, moussaka, lamb chops...they are all wonderful! The waiters are professional, knowledgable and friendly and the atmosphere is cozy, but also lively and upbeat. NOT a boring place at all, but not overly loud and crazy. If you want a more quiet evening ask to sit in the back...away from the bar. This restaurant is a MUST TRY! If you know and appreciate quality cuisine you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
Pros: Great food, Great Service!
