Editorial Review for Mifune – by Kimi Walker

The Scene
Slatted-wood booths divide the large dining room into several semi-private areas. Stark red-and-black walls accented by tasteful Japanese prints gussy up the otherwise spare space. A diverse crowd of diners is served by an accommodating staff.

The Food
This unassuming eatery's main attraction is Japanese noodles, served hot in a rich soy-dashi stock or cold with a subtle dipping sauce. Earthy, nutty soba (thin buckwheat noodles) served cold is slick and refreshing, especially dipped into a soy-based sauce that can be doctored up with ginger, green onions and wasabi. Tenzaru soba introduces crisp, feather-light tempura, a pleasing contrast of textures and flavors. The main attraction, however, are hearty soups with chewy, utterly satisfying homemade udon (pencil-thick wheat noodles). Nabeyaki udon is a delicious tangle of tender chicken, shrimp, silky-soft boiled egg and fresh vegetables. Simple tannin udon is enriched with thin slices of beef, fluffy scrambled eggs and green onions.

User Reviews for Mifune

1 Star Rating: Not Recommended

Oyako donburi with tons of broken egg shell, missing dishes that had been ordered, dirty tables, unfriendly lackadaisical service, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and stay away. Next time I will try one of the restaurants on either side of Mifune, they couldn't be worse!

Pros: None to speak of

Cons: Eating and dining at this restaurant

I walked out of Isobune sushi because they were not children friendly . I went across the way to Mifune we were seated right away, food was alright. Once the server took our order and brought our food we never see her again... on a Saturday 5:30pm. ..I walked to the register to pay and then I see the server coming running. She told the guy behind the register our table # .. That was it... My husband was kind enough to tip? Nothing to rave about .. If you decide to eat at Mifune just make sure you ask for extra water or tea when ordering , you will not see your waiter again...

Pros: easy parking

Cons: staff not very attentive
